Cen Ye always believed that people who left were like fallen flowers, rotted away at the roots long ago. But one day, as she passed by, a flowering branch reached out to her again.

After years apart, the wealthy young lady she remembered as aloof and arrogant now bit her lip and humbled herself before Cen Ye.

As slender fingers hooked around her backpack strap, the woman before her pleaded, brows drawn and lips trembling. “I just want to stay with you. Can I?”

Cen Ye rejected her without mercy. “No. Stop pretending.”

It turned out that Wen Qingyue was better suited to her proud, elegant, free-spirited self.

Even so, she was still very good to Cen Ye, except that she no longer clung to her with a coy, coquettish voice, calling her by the nickname Cen Ye had given her.

Cen Ye warned herself not to fall for a woman again, especially not the same woman she'd fallen for four years ago. She tried to keep her distance, but Wen Qingyue cornered her in a quiet spot on campus, kissed her fingertips through her tears, and begged her not to leave.

Cen Ye's whole body went numb. Afraid to confirm her suspicions, she could only try to shake the woman off, flustered and speaking without thinking. “Fuck, are you crazy? Are you in love with me or something?”

When she looked up after saying that, she was met by a pair of beautiful, glass-clear eyes she'd seen countless times at close range. Tears clung to the lashes, and the corners of her eyes were red and wet.

“Cen Ye,” she said, her voice breaking with sobs. “Yes. I love you so much I'm going crazy.”

Years later, whenever Cen Ye recalled that moment, she would call it “an incredibly beautiful moment,” usually followed by, “if only Wen Qingyue hadn't kept sniffling after she said it.”
