Just as the two men face off, locked in a cold standoff, a white-robed immortal quietly protects Yang Jiuzhou, helps her clear the most dangerous instance, and gives her a List of the Gods.

The immortal is noble and radiant, drawing all her attention.

But he is an NPC.

Then spiritual energy from the game invades reality, and the NPCs begin to awaken one after another.

Yang Jiuzhou suddenly discovers that the divine artifacts she collected in the game have come to life.

They have all turned into fluffy little creatures, snuggle up to warm her bed, and can even talk to her. They say they have been waiting for her for countless years.

It turns out this isn't a full-dive game, but a real world of gods and demons.

Worse still, evil spirits are everywhere, roaring to return to the mortal realm.

And she bears humanity's only hope: to confer godhood and save the world by gathering every lost divine artifact.

What happens once she collects them all?

The immortal risks his life to hold the line, while her master's whereabouts remain unknown.

With her childhood rival at her side, Yang Jiuzhou slays demons and vanquishes evil, running her arrogant adversary through with a single sword thrust.

Memories suddenly surge back.

At last, she remembers: this is the second time she has pierced the adversary's chest with her sword.

She has pierced the one soft spot he had left for her.

Three thousand years have passed, and they have all come for her.

Yet she has forgotten every one of them.

One day, Yang Jiuzhou is in the training grounds practicing skills with her childhood rival.

Suddenly, the alchemy room behind the grounds explodes...

Her master flies out of the flames and lands gently at her feet.

He lowers his eyes. "Cough, cough. I know the immortal didn't do it on purpose, but that alchemy room is worth a fortune. Perhaps next time he could... take a little more care."

The immortal's robes flutter as he wipes a speck of soot from his fair cheek. He flicks a talisman from his fingertips, and the alchemy room is restored.

He smiles faintly. "My fault. I was too impatient trying to make an elixir of immortality for Jiuzhou. A little green bug got in. I couldn't kill it, and I disrupted Jiuzhou's practice."

Her childhood rival snaps his sword out twice. Amid a cloud of dust, he grabs Yang Jiuzhou and flashes to the pond beyond, where lotus flowers bloom.

He grits his teeth. "Want to watch the sword dance I just learned? Let's leave those two to their alchemy."

A streak of green darts over from afar, accompanied by a clear, solemn voice. Upon landing, it unfurls a feather fan, and flowers blossom across the world.

The figure reaches out. "Another half-day of leisure, stolen from the world. Jiuzhou, would you like to make me your dog again today?

Woof!"

Yang Jiuzhou: "Hah."

The List of the Gods has no gods; new ghosts lament their grievances, and old ghosts weep.
