Synopsis
[Sweet and Fluffy] [Mutually Faithful]
Part 1:
Humans who start companies and run businesses have to pay taxes in renminbi. When spirits do business with humans, they also have to pay taxes to the Divine Bureau of Taxation, in blessings, prosperity, and longevity.
After spending more than a decade working in the human world, Ye Qingkuang, a fox spirit, has signed countless contracts with humans and earned a fortune in blessings, prosperity, and longevity. But when it comes to paying taxes, he sticks to one principle: pay as little as possible, and if he can get away with paying nothing, all the better.
As the saying goes, dodging taxes feels great for a while, until someone reports you and you end up in a world of hurt.
Betrayed by a friend, Ye Qingkuang had his contract records stolen and reported to the Divine Bureau of Taxation. In no time, he became the subject of a scandal that rocked all three realms.
The fox sobbed. All the assets I worked so hard to build up have gone up in smoke! Waaah!
Part 2:
Little Qiao Sanmei followed her young, handsome father into a wealthy family when he married. Her stepmother, Li Man, was ten years older than her father and plain-looking, but she came from a powerful, wealthy family. Soon, she gave birth to Qiao Mianyu, her father's daughter.
She loved him the way King Zhou loved Daji.
She hated his daughter the way King Zhou hated Boyikao.
Everyone in the Li family treated Qiao Sanmei like a thorn in their side, while her Qiao relatives fawned over the powerful. They doted on the infant Qiao Mianyu and relentlessly bullied Qiao Sanmei.
Qiao Sanmei grew up in a twisted family, utterly lacking any sense of security.
To pay her tuition, Qiao Sanmei worked nonstop, supporting herself through school. During one of her part-time jobs, she met a fox spirit.
Part 3:
The final gaze of someone who dies an unnatural death is filled with venom.
College student Qiao Sanmei did the right thing and tried to help, only to be cursed by a middle-aged woman who had fallen from a building.
In hell, the woman's evil spirit greedily called out to Sanmei. Its intense resentment became a spirit and began to wreak havoc, luring Sanmei up to the rooftop.
At the last possible moment, the fox demon Ye Qingkuang arrived to collect the resentment. By a stroke of luck, he saved Sanmei's life.
Like a cleaner, he gathered the lingering resentment of those who had died unjustly at the scene and condensed it into spirit cores, using them to fill the dolls he made.
Ye Qingkuang walked away down the street, carrying a bundle of resentment, never noticing how terrified Qiao Sanmei was when she came to her senses atop the tall building and saw the edge of the roof!
Part 4:
Fifteen years ago, a rank-smelling fox broke into the Land of Divine Blessing, disrupted the fire ritual, toppled the sacred tree, and stole the primordial divine artifact, the Jiyan Codex.
By imperial decree, High Priest Sen Chenkhu was tasked with capturing the fox demon and bringing it to justice. After years of searching, he finally found its trail in the human world. Sen Chenkhu lurked in the shadows, scheming endlessly and setting all kinds of traps for the fox. But a mortal girl kept ruining his plans.
By a twist of fate, the Jiyan Codex ended up in the girl's right eye.
The high priest hardened his heart, drew his divine whip, and lashed it at the girl, intending to strike her into a cloud of blood. Seeing this, the fox wrapped an arm around her waist and fled with her.
To retrieve the priceless artifact, the great demon Ye Qingkuang, who had come from the spirit realm, took the girl as his exclusive possession, forbidding any other spirit from laying claim to her.
He took her to the ends of heaven and the depths of hell. Through their adventures, they uncovered the Jiyan Codex's mysterious secrets and learned the story of their past and present lives.
Qiao Sanmei: "Didn't you say that, according to the attendant contract we signed, I have to be your servant?"
Ye Qingkuang: "That's right, that's right."
Qiao Sanmei: "Then why did the other spirits in the spirit realm tell me an attendant contract makes a spirit a human's contracted beast?"
Ye Qingkuang lowered his eyes. "Don't listen to them. Spirits love to lie, especially to innocent little girls like you who haven't seen much of the world."
Qiao Sanmei pouted. "I'm not doing it. I'm not going to be anyone's slave."
The tender-hearted fox said, "You're not a slave. You're my lady boss!"
The One Tuft of Hair Detective Agency is now open for business! There are four of us on staff: the boss, the lady boss, and two doll employees. We specialize in settling grievances and debts from past lives. Just pay us a little of your blessings, prosperity, and longevity, and we'll make your wish come true.
Worldbuilding:
[The world is divided into three realms: the human realm, the spirit realm, and the celestial realm.
Humans live in the human realm. The things they produce turn into a kind of energy. This energy rises to form the celestial realm and sinks to form the spirit realm.
This energy is the influence the human realm exerts on the celestial and spirit realms, commonly known as the response between heaven and humanity.
Mortals who attain the Dao can ascend to the celestial realm and escape the cycle of reincarnation.
The people of the celestial realm are called gods by mortals. They must obey the laws of heaven and maintain the proper workings of the human realm, overseeing matters such as the reincarnation of souls, the rewards and punishments of merit and fortune, and the arrangement of romantic unions.
Their humanity gradually fades as they draw closer to divinity, but they never escape the limitations of being human.
Spirits in the spirit realm fall into two categories. One kind is created by human faith. The other comes into being when the interaction between heaven and earth gives rise to a spiritual root, which then nurtures a spirit.
Spiritual roots arise in accordance with divine will, and each carries a heavenly mandate it must fulfill.
Spirits created by human faith draw their power from that faith. When no one believes in them or remembers them, they vanish. They are projections of human society.
Spirits born from spiritual roots draw their power from cultivation. They must enter the human world and trade with humans to earn blessings and rewards, while following the guidance of fate to fulfill their own heavenly mandate.
Beyond the three tangible realms, the universe also contains an intangible force: the Supreme Brahma.
The Supreme Brahma governs the balance of the universe and the existence of worlds. It is the hub that keeps the universe running properly. It is made up of different cosmic laws and worldly truths, like the different lines of code in a running computer system.
It manifests as the Three Primordial Gods: the Creator Goddess Shi Nü Tingyao, the Guardian God Naluo Fuyu, and the Destroyer God Datian Zhuyu.
The Three Primordial Gods are both personified, concrete beings and the convergence of cause and effect, the entanglement of history, and the unity of logic and reality.]
Theme: Even in gloomy, lonely times, life can still be wonderful.
