An evenly matched couple
A cool-faced, adorable prodigy x A carefree habitual faker who plays dumb
Shang Wenshu became an outer disciple of the Xuanjian Sect when he was six.
Before that, he had been adopted and raised for years by a kind couple, but one night, his adoptive father suddenly turned into a demon.
His adoptive mother was badly injured. When she brought him back to the Xuanjian Sect, he learned that she was actually the sect's Ninth Sect Master.
The Ninth Sect Master passed away after giving birth,
leaving behind a child named Yun Ji.
Shang Wenshu spent many years among the outer disciples, quietly watching that precious jewel from afar all the while.
Yun Ji of the Xuanjian Sect.
Even outside the sect, that name carried tremendous weight.
A rising star of the sect's new generation, winner of the martial arts tournament year after year, daughter of the late Ninth Sect Master, and the tallest female cultivator in the entire sect by the age of fourteen...
None of these titles meant much to her.
Because Yun Ji had spent all fourteen years of her life surrounded by praise.
Until
Yun Ji pointed her sword at Shang Wenshu's nose. "One more round!"
Yun Ji refused to accept it. How could an outer disciple who couldn't even control his sword aura unleash such powerful inner force?
Shang Wenshu said coolly, "The match is decided."
Yun Ji accepted second place with an air of nonchalance, then secretly trained harder behind the scenes.
At last, she reclaimed first place at the next tournament.

At last, he reclaimed first place at the next tournament.
And so the cycle continued.
The gates opened for Yun Ji to go down the mountain and gain experience at last, when she had taken second place for the eighth time.
Yun Ji left the sword sect in a neat outfit and opened the handwritten notes her mother had left behind. The words on the page were clear: Vanquishing demons and monsters is the righteous path of Heaven and Earth.
Yun Ji clenched her fist. This time, I'll still be number one!
Oh no! I'm running out of chapters! Updates will be every other day from now on~
