Quick-witted, sharp-tongued, clever little green-tea bottom x dependable, protective, teasing, youthful top
Yan Hejia felt that perhaps he and He Xun were just incompatible.
When he first met He Xun, Yan Hejia was moving back to his hometown with his parents. Not long after they returned, his fiance, who had passed the county-level civil service exam, broke off their engagement.
Being jilted was bad enough, but Yan Hejia thought to himself that the next one would be better.
Who could have guessed that after he happened to run into He Xun that evening, he would receive word the next morning that his father had suffered a sudden relapse of an old illness and was bedridden?
With no one to manage the household, creditors and relatives alike came knocking to claim their share of the family's property. Now, only Yan Hejia and his mother had each other to rely on.
Yan Hejia had no choice but to shoulder the household burdens and open a tea shop on Changning Street, near the lake.
The shop was somewhat out of the way, but the lake water was sweet and the tea fragrant. Customers could sit by the window and enjoy the lake view with tea and refreshments as a gentle breeze passed by. It was a truly pleasant way to spend the day.
Business was no easy matter, and Yan Hejia was kept constantly busy. During the rare quiet moments, he couldn't help wondering: He hadn't seen He Xun in ages. Would their business deal still go through?
But, by some miracle, the shop had barely been open a few days when a man named He Xun came looking for him again.
"I heard your tea was fragrant, young master, so I've come to find you today. Would you be kind enough to give me a bowl?"
Yan Hejia smiled slyly. "I've just started serving some bitter kuding tea. It's bitter at first, but sweet after. Would you like some, sir?"
Before he could finish speaking, someone took the teacup from his hand and drained it in one gulp.
Only when the tall figure drew closer did Yan Hejia hear him say, "We agreed to share both sweetness and bitterness. It doesn't count if I'm the only one who drinks."
A slice-of-life story. Updates every other day for now.
