Qi Tingyan's parents died, leaving him the only surviving bloodline of the Yongsheng Prince's residence. At six, he was brought back by his aunt to be raised by the Gu family, where he grew up alongside his cousin, Gu Mingshu.
Gu Mingshu was two years older than Qi Tingyan. Gentle and warmhearted, she took good care of her younger cousin.
