Heavenly Realm Newsflash: Lord Nanxing, the ten-thousand-year-old bachelor, is heading to the mortal realm to undergo a love trial!
The Demon Lord, upon hearing the news: Hey! Honey! I'm coming!
Everyone across the Six Realms knows that the Demon Lord, Shang Lu, has a crush on the Star Diviner Immortal of the Heavenly Realm. He chases after him every day, but the immortal is as thick as a plank and has never caught on.
When he hears that the Star Diviner Immortal is going to the mortal realm to undergo a love trial, the Demon Lord seizes the opportunity. To make sure he can find him after losing his memories, the Demon Lord decides to cheat.
From the day he came of age, Shang Lu, heir to the Prince of Zhenbei, has occasionally dreamed of the same thing: in the dream, he clings to a white-robed young man called "Si Xing," but the young man always has a cool, distant expression.
The heir, after waking: What kind of simp do you take me for? No way am I doing that.
On the first day the Prince of Zhenbei returns to the capital with his family to settle down, the heir seems to spot the white-robed young man from his dreams: Shen Nanxing, the second son of the Grand Secretary.
Scholars and soldiers look down on one another, and Shang Lu genuinely can't stand this stuffy, sickly weakling. Of course, Shen Nanxing also looks down on the heir, who has no accomplishments to speak of.
But the immortals, demons, and great monsters lurking around the two of them are determined to get a close-up look at the latest developments in their romance. Could they really stand by and watch the pair go their whole lives without speaking? Absolutely not.
So a jug of drugged wine leads the two men, who can't stand one another, to spend one wild night together.
The ensuing chaos is all in this story.
