The Rich Stepmom of the Contrast Group [Nineties]

Ruan Ruan transmigrated into a book and became a young stepmother in a period novel.

The female lead lives in the same residential compound. She looks after the elderly and the children, shares a loving marriage with her husband, and has a pair of twins. She's the model woman of the whole compound.

As for Ruan Ruan...

Her husband is a layabout. Either he spends all day taking it easy, or he comes home smelling of all kinds of perfume.

The two children her husband adopted from a friend are grown up and aren't on her side. They barely say a word to her all day.

Her husband's parents dislike her and absolutely refuse to live with her.

Poor Ruan Ruan. Her home doesn't feel like home, and her life is steeped in misery...

Not at all!

Her husband is never home, and Ruan Ruan couldn't be happier. Who wants to spend every day waiting on some stinky man?

The kids have grown up and aren't close to her. She couldn't care less. They're not her biological children anyway, so they can just be friends. Who wants to spend all day dealing with kids' diapers and potty training?

Her in-laws don't like her, and she's thrilled. She can eat whatever she wants and spend every day eating, drinking, getting her hair permed, and making clothes with her besties!

Ruan Ruan's only worry is that she has too much money to spend.

She heard housing prices will skyrocket in the 1990s. Maybe she should trade some gold bars for property deeds too?

No sooner said than done. Life as a landlady is simply wonderful!
