"Honey, I want to eat the food you cook every day. I'm so happy."
Fresh out of college, Qin Xiaoxiao nestled against Han Yuchen, looking forward to their future together.
"Xiaoxiao, are you coming home for dinner today?"
"Honey, I'm busy. I won't be home."
He couldn't remember how long it had been since she last came home for a meal.
"Are you even a man? You spend every day at home cooking and cleaning!" Han Yuchen's father exploded.
"Dad, one of us has to be busy. If neither of us takes care of the family, it'll fall apart." Han Yuchen had lost count of how many times he'd explained this.
"Xiaoxiao, I don't think he's good enough for you." Xiao Yixuan clenched his teeth.
"You and I can talk about work, but don't talk to me about my family. And I know for myself whether my husband is any good."
"Yuchen, I regret it. Can we have another chance?" Zimu cried out in the rain.
Han Yuchen was a little moved. She was the girl who had ushered in his youth and stayed by his side for nearly ten years.
"Yuchen, let's go on a trip." Qin Xiaoxiao came home late at night and hugged Han Yuchen. He was the man who had stood by her for nearly seven years. Qin Xiaoxiao wouldn't let go. She wanted to mend things and win him back.
But how could a relationship with cracks in it be repaired so easily?
"I want Qin Xiaoxiao ruined for good!" Ye Zimu screamed hysterically.
"I told you, you can take my place, but if you dare lay a hand on Xiaoxiao, I'll make you pay a hundredfold." Xiao Yichen replied coldly.
"Zimu, stop. I'll do everything in my power to protect Xiaoxiao."
Han Yuchen used every ounce of his strength to pull Qin Xiaoxiao from beneath the car, heedless of his own broken bones and the blood pouring from his wounds.
"Save her, please. Save her first." Those were the last words Qin Xiaoxiao heard from Han Yuchen while she was still conscious. She saw him collapse in front of the doctor. She wanted to move, but it felt as though some force were pulling her away. At last, she passed out.
/"Honey, what are we having for dinner today?" Qin Xiaoxiao texted the person pinned at the top of her contacts while attending a meeting, stroking her round pregnant belly.
"All your favorites. Was the baby good today? If you get tired, remember to sit down and rest, okay?"
Life will surely reward every couple who truly love each other and give of themselves.
