Blurb subject to change.
Tech tycoon × wealthy heiress
Born into a prominent family, Jing Que was radiant and dazzling, a true darling of heaven. But no matter how deeply she was cherished, she could not escape the fate of a business marriage.
Jing Que first met her intended at her sister's child's birthday party.
Beneath the bright lights, the man stood tall among the crowd, a wineglass in hand, his bearing noble. As his dark eyes glanced at her, emotions too murky to make out churned within them.
Jing Que was against the marriage, so naturally she resented him.
With the wedding date approaching, Jing Que discussed calling off the engagement with her parents, but once again she failed.
On a rainy night, her car broke down halfway along the road.
A Bentley slowly pulled up.
Jing Que had never imagined that the next time she met Liang Yubai, she would be in such a wretched state. The man opened a black umbrella and, with his slender fingers gripping the handle, tilted it to shelter her drenched body.
The next second, he lowered himself onto one knee and calmly lifted her ankle to examine the sprain.
The hazard lights still flashed on the car behind them. Liang Yubai's back was soon soaked through. Jing Que lowered her eyes and met his burning gaze, her butterfly-wing lashes trembling faintly with restraint.
Liang Yubai's voice was low and husky, blending with the patter of the rain. "Miss Jing, there are many benefits to marrying me."
"So, would you consider it?"
After they married, as their love blossomed, Jing Que happened to find an old, yellowed photograph in her husband's study. It was a picture of her from ten years ago, when she was in high school.
The owner had tucked it inside a book. Holding her breath, Jing Que saw a line of bold, forceful handwriting on the title page.
"I want her to be a bird that can never escape me."
