At first,
Xiang Xiaonian thought she was dead.
But then she opened her eyes again.
The ferryman of the underworld told Xiang Xiaonian that she was now in a half-dead state.
Because she had done good deeds and accumulated virtue in her previous life, she had merit to her name. So, as an exception, she was granted one dream of golden millet.
To mend her damaged soul, make up for the regrets in her memories, and soothe the knot that remained in her chest even after death...
Once her soul had grown whole, with no lingering ties, she would be pure and clean, free of all attachments, no longer burdened by the debts and obligations of the living world
If she was lucky, she would be sent through the gate to be reborn;
If she wasn't, she would be sent into reincarnation.
And so Xiang Xiaonian settled down by the far shore, still in a daze.
