● Complete. New extra chapters will be added indefinitely under the title, "I Told You I Wasn't Cut Out to Be Human."
● My upcoming story is "Rules for Raising a Yandere Puppy," an older ABO romance with a coming-of-age plot. Please add it to your bookmarks!
Song Li, a newly graduated graduate-school entrance exam candidate, picked up a wildly melodramatic novel about a domineering lover who forced his way into a relationship with his father's wife as a way to unwind. It featured father-son battles, imprisonment, and a contrived happy ending where both leads were still virgins. Its plot perfectly avoided anything a normal person would consider common sense. But this was exactly his kind of thing. The day after he finished the book, a melodrama System sent him into it, giving him the identity of the domineering young male lead who fought his father for his wife.
Song Li: No, I just like reading this stuff. I don't actually want to be the protagonist of a melodrama, okay?
Melodrama System 715: Congratulations, Host! Let's make it big and glorious on the road to melodrama!
Unfortunately, the System had no idea what it was doing. It had picked Song Li, a single man in his twenties, a civil-engineering powerhouse, and a super-straight guy. He nearly caused the plot's melodramatic turning points to collapse like a landslide.
Scene one: His scumbag father brings home a delicate white lotus and announces that they'll spend the rest of their lives together. In the original, the domineering son is supposed to lose himself after seeing a red tinge at the corner of his new stepmother's eye, fall head over heels, and have a huge fight with his father, frightening the white lotus stepmother so badly that he ends up in the hospital. Song Li's choice is to grab the solid wood ornament by the door and smash it into his father's head, cracking his skull open.
Song Li: Damn cheating, lying men. Drop dead, the lot of you.
Scene two: The white lotus argues with his scumbag father and runs away from home, standing alone in the rain with his face tilted up at a forty-five-degree angle. The domineering male lead sees him, feels terribly sorry for him, and takes him home, offering to support him. The foolish male lead falls for the white lotus's act and gets tricked into handing over company secrets, causing his father to bankrupt the company. Song Li checks the original plot, then looks at the scumbag father in front of him, who has been thoroughly played by the white lotus and will soon disappear from the story. He sincerely pulls out twenty yuan and offers it to him. "Let's forget about taking you in. How about we go get twenty-yuan beef noodles together?"
Sorry, the domineering boss hasn't made it to the middle class yet.
Scene three: The domineering boss, whose company has gone bankrupt, goes abroad to study. He and his stepmother lock eyes at the airport as if they'd known each other for a thousand years. The dim sunset falls between them. His eyes hold thirty percent hatred, thirty percent love, and forty percent unwillingness. In the end, he still cries, "Don't look down on a poor young man!" before turning around and resolutely boarding his plane. As for Song Li, his flight is at five in the morning. He gets up at one and bolts, getting as far away as possible from these love-addled nutcases.
Sometimes you only realize after leaving that you should've run even sooner.
The System sobs beside him over the plot that's completely fallen apart, while Song Li still thinks everything's going great. Then he follows the plot and returns to the country, only to see that the delicate white lotus, who'd seemed as helpless as a dodder vine, now commands much of the business world in the capital and has become a powerful figure above everyone else. When the man gives him a meaningful smile, Song Li finally realizes something is wrong.
Wait, where's that big, innocent, delicate white lotus?
A goofy seme who turns tropes on their head × a beautiful, sharp-tongued uke who's sweet on the outside and dark within
The goofy seme never turns back from his mission to subvert melodrama.
[Please Note]
● Main character is the seme. A silly, lighthearted story.
● A melodrama-subverting story. This book isn't melodramatic, it's just comedy. The seme saves the uke, and they dote on each other.
● Monogamous 1v1. The stepmother setup is mostly just a superficial trope and won't be explored much. Please see the author's note in chapter one for details.
