A Reply from the Future God

Ting Yu was born deaf and could hear nothing in the world.

But ever since he could remember, a voice had always appeared in his mind to talk with him.

The voice patiently answered many of his childish, far-fetched questions.

It was the only response in his lonely world.

At first, he told his family about the voice, but they took him from the hospital's ear, nose, and throat department to the psychiatric department.

As Ting Yu grew up, he reached the age when love began to blossom.

He told the voice, "I think I might like boys."

For once, the voice did not answer right away. After a moment, it said, "Mm."

"Is it strange to like someone of the same sex? Do you think it's strange?"

"It's not strange." The voice paused. "I think it's wonderful."

On the day he turned eighteen, Ting Yu woke up to find that he had transmigrated to another world.

Here, people went out in spaceships and could communicate without opening their mouths.

As an outsider, he struggled at every turn. He did not even know how to talk to people.

Just as Ting Yu was at his wit's end, a man appeared.

He wore a long coat and swept in with the wind, his eyes an unusual shade of brownish green.

The first thing the man said was, "Happy birthday."

Ting Yu could never mistake that voice. It was the voice that had accompanied him for more than a decade.

Only later did he learn that the man was the creator god of this world, Lovia.

In the year before the Common Era, the world was invaded by an alien species and plunged into chaos.

The young general of the capital led his troops into battle. Unfortunately, he was severely wounded during the fighting, his hearing badly damaged, and he soon succumbed to his injuries.

At the time, Lovia, also a general, was on a mission in a remote district. When he received the devastating news, his spiritual power surged, and he defied orders to return to the capital and join the fight.

The alien species were eventually wiped out, and Lovia, who had fought without rest for a month and earned great merit, was revered as the creator god.

Few people knew how long he had stood vigil before the fallen general's coffin.

By chance, Lovia sensed the general's spiritual power in another world and learned that he had been reborn into an ordinary family under the new name Ting Yu.

So Lovia spoke with him, listening to him talk about his life and troubles.

He stayed by his side as he grew up.

Inspired by Conversations with God, though the story itself doesn't have much to do with it.
