Blurb: In his previous life, Yan Lin's Foxian clan, Zhuochi, lived far from the Xianzhou. But the torment of becoming Mara-Struck turned them into a vicious clan that terrorized the region, and the Xianzhou launched a campaign against them. Just as both sides were on the brink of mutual destruction, the long-hidden Borisin suddenly appeared and wiped out both weakened forces. Reborn in this life as the youngest Foxian male in his clan, he swore to find a way to save his people and prevent the disaster. His first step was to go to the Xianzhou and improve relations between the two sides. So he secretly climbed aboard a vehicle rumored to be taking a dragon girl back to the Alchemy Commission, hoping to learn from her how to ease his people's Mara-Struck condition. He reached out to grab the dragon girl's clothes, but unexpectedly touched something fluffy. Following the tail with his eyes, he saw a squinty-eyed Foxian man. Yan Lin: I think I've picked a fight with someone I shouldn't... To his surprise, the Foxian man smiled at him and cried out like a foodie: "Want to go eat hot pot together?" Yan Lin: ? After learning that this squinty-eyed man was a doctor too, Yan Lin rubbed his hands together, eager to try and kidnap him back to Zhuochi to treat his people. But... How does he know I'm going to make my move today?! As he sparred with the man, Yan Lin noticed that he would often stare at him for a long time with a strange look in his eyes. It was as if he were looking at a transparent sheet of paper, with no secrets at all. Everything was following the timeline of Yan Lin's previous life, and he grew more and more anxious over his own inability to change things. Could nothing be changed after all...? Jiaoqiu flicked his feather fan: "Everything is under control, including you." Jiaoqiu had snuck out of Yaoqing to eat spicy food when he suddenly discovered that he could hear the thoughts of the Foxian beside him. After bringing him back to Yaoqing: On the surface, the fellow cooperated enthusiastically, looking earnest and studious. In his mind, he grumbled: [All this spicy food is making my ass hurt. All details serve the story! * The protagonist's name is Yan Lin, based on "salt and pepper" and "hills." * When I wrote the outline, I didn't know Jiaoqiu's personality yet. Based on the pink-haired fox, squinty eyes, and feather fan, I guessed he might be the type to play dumb while hiding his true strength. We'll see once he's released.
