Fiery little sunshine x devoted, taciturn guy
Childhood friends | Growing up | He falls for her first | Happy ending and sweet romance
[Lighthearted blurb]
Li Muyang and Xu Siran grew up in the same compound. The two families doted on Li Muyang from childhood, leaving Xu Siran to suffer.
He was always quietly behind her, cleaning up her messes.
After class one day, a friend warned him, “I saw your childhood sweetheart tampering with the teacher’s whistle.”
Xu Siran simply nodded and headed for the teacher’s office.
His friend asked, “You’re always following her around and cleaning up her messes. Doesn’t it get annoying?”
Xu Siran shook his head helplessly. “It does. She’s the most annoying.”
That night, Li Muyang stormed into Xu Siran’s room, fuming, and demanded to know what was going on.
Xu Siran brought her peeled, pitted lychees and fed one to her. “Your Majesty, is it sweet?”
Later, after sobering up from a night of drinking, Li Muyang saw who was lying beside her and swung her pillow at him.
“Xu Siran, you jerk! How dare you take advantage of me? Boohoo, I’m telling Auntie Wang!”
Xu Siran gave her a faintly innocent smile. “Sure. Tell Principal Wang that you slept with his son.”
Later still.
Xu Siran got a chance to train in Europe, but Li Muyang, who was usually so fiery, fell silent in that moment.
On the soccer field, he said, “That’s every soccer player’s dream.”
“A dream is like a kite string. Everyone wants to grab hold of it. My dream has already come true, and now I want to grab hold of her.”
[Bonus scene]
In the dark, he fed her a lychee. “Is it sweet?”
Li Muyang bit her lip and refused to answer.
“Let me taste...”
“Is that how you taste it?”
“You’re still the sweetest...”
“Xu Siran, you’re nothing but a beast in gentleman’s clothing.”
Xu Siran laughed and slowly pried her lips apart. “Mu Bao, call me big brother...”
[Serious blurb]
Li Muyang and Xu Siran are childhood friends.
An accident forced her to give up her athletic career.
In the dark, the sharp smell of disinfectant mingled with Xu Siran’s words: “I’ll run for you.”
He quietly turned her regret into a new hope.
Later, one of them would make a fuss, and the other would laugh.
One would watch, and the other would run.
He transformed her inability to run into another way for her to take her place on the field.
The best way for childhood friends to protect each other isn’t for one to save the other. It’s to help each other rise from the lowest point, then watch every ray of light on the field together.
“I’m the only one in your audience.”
“You’re my only childhood sweetheart. How could I not favor you?”
Reader’s notes:
* Opens on a university campus. The male lead is a junior, and the female lead is a sophomore. A slow-burn story about growing up.
* They are two years apart. The male lead’s mother delayed his start at school by a year so he could look after the female lead, so they are only one school year apart.
* Many original details. Please don’t read too much into them. No real-life models.
(Note from 2025.9.14: The blurb is provisional, but the core story is unchanged.)
Theme: Don’t regret the past; face the future with optimism.
