Shanks: "I absolutely loathe the 24 years I spent living in the lower world. Let's change the subject."

Fulis tossed aside the utterly boring book and happened to hear Shanks on the phone as she walked past.
He said that the people and things here were all so boring, nothing at all compared to sailing.

Still, they started dating without a hitch, got engaged without a hitch, and then... both ran away on their wedding day.
After Shanks boarded the ship that had come to pick him up, he noticed another ship alongside it.
Oh, a Revolutionary Army ship.
Oh, someone was sparring on the deck.
