[Rekindled Romance]
1. On her first day at college, Su Xi was dragged by her roommate to the gym to watch a basketball game.
The player dribbling across the court was Ji Chenlei, a rising basketball star from a family of basketball players who had been expected to do great things since childhood.
His crisp corner three-pointer set the crowd alight. Amid deafening cheers, Su Xi saw his face: striking features, deep eyes, a defined jawline, cool and distant.
Su Xi fell for his looks, but when her friend asked, she still stubbornly insisted, "He's just average."
2. Not long afterward, Ji Chenlei led the university team to victory in the college league. Halfway through the celebration banquet, he suddenly disappeared.
Someone saw him enter the room next door and gathered people to block the door.
When it opened, Ji Chenlei looked displeased. "Keep it down. Xi Xi is sleeping."
3. Su Xi won Ji Chenlei's heart, and everyone agreed they were a match made in heaven, a couple with looks that were hard to beat.
But somehow, the two of them eventually went their separate ways.
Years later, Su Xi returned from studying abroad. Ji Chenlei had become a leading figure in the league, with countless rumored romances, and had even topped the list of athletes with the highest commercial value.
At a class reunion, someone, emboldened by drink, asked Su Xi why she and Ji Chenlei had broken up.
As soon as the question was asked, Ji Chenlei, who had not been seen in ages, appeared in the private room and took the drunk Su Xi away.
Beneath the still moonlight, Su Xi held Ji Chenlei and asked, "What are we talking about?"
"Let's talk about our future."
"We don't have a future."
"Then let's talk about now."
"Now?"
Su Xi clung to Ji Chenlei, their bodies pressed together. "We're not talking about our relationship. You've broken my heart."
She ran a finger over Ji Chenlei's Adam's apple. "You can have either my body or my heart."
"I want both."
Su Xi smiled. "Then you might as well take my life."
