Li Lanxian, heiress to the Li Group, returns to the country to take over her family's perfume business. With a prestigious family background and breathtaking beauty, she turns heads wherever she goes.
Countless society heiresses reach out to her, but only Li Lanxian knows that all she wants is a marriage-of-convenience partner with no connections, someone easy to control.
So, despite the endless stream of marriage proposals, Li Lanxian turns every one of them down.
Until one rainy night, the daughter of some unknown small-business owner appears outside her company.
The girl is still wearing her school uniform. Soaked through, she shivers uncontrollably from the cold.
An umbrella shields her from the rain.
The girl looks up and sees Li Lanxian holding it, staring at her with a cold gaze like a venomous snake.
"Are you trying to make me feel sorry for you?" Li Lanxian shakes her head in disappointment. "You're way out of your league, little girl."
But the girl blinks her big, bright eyes and cries without knowing her place:
"Sister Li, I... can I marry you...?"
Li Lanxian frowns.
"Take the money and leave. Don't stand around getting in my way."
The girl lowers her head with a sob.
"I don't want money. I just want to stay alive..."
From this angle, Li Lanxian can see the purple bruises on the girl's neck.
Li Lanxian says nothing.
That very night, Li Lanxian lays down some rules for the girl.
She says a whole lot, but the girl only murmurs dreamily:
"Sister Li, your hair smells so nice."
Li Lanxian: ???
Some time later, the girl holds up a little bottle of perfume for her to smell. It smells exactly like Li Lanxian's hair.
Li Lanxian: !!!
Li Lanxian, born into a prominent family, has actually married some silly little thing from who-knows-where. Everyone thinks she'll get bored of this little thing and dump her soon enough.
Only Li Lanxian knows how hard it is for her.
Before work, Li Lanxian tries to steal a moment to cuddle with her little darling, but the little darling sends her off to work;
When she comes home, Li Lanxian tries to kiss her little darling, only to be reminded:
"Sister, don't distract me. I can't get the scent right."
Li Lanxian finally can't take it anymore.
"I'll give you a whole company. Now come cuddle with me, okay?!"
