After I died, I transmigrated. Or, rather, I only drank half the reincarnation soup Meng Po offered me, and transmigrated to the Warring States period with hazy memories. I started out as a blank-slate baby, and when I grew up, I became a shrine maiden in Kaede Village, Musashi Province.
In my previous life, I was an overworked corporate drone, toiling like a beast of burden. In this life, I'm a shrine maiden, working myself to the bone.
In this chaotic, war-torn era, where demons run rampant and life is harsh, I, Kikyo, have decided to set myself a modest goal: lead Kaede Village toward prosperity.
*
Kikyo, an apprentice shrine maiden with seven and a half years of training, begins her travels. Her first stop is Daigo, a land of peace and prosperity, blessed with fine weather and abundant harvests. But the side quest involving the key figure Hyakkimaru reveals that there's more to the truth than meets the eye. As an apprentice shrine maiden with the world at heart, you decide:
A. I found a half-puppet, and he wants to come home with me!
B. First, let's fire off a demon-slaying arrow!
C. What manner of demon are you? Show yourself at once!
*
After cracking a major fraud case in Daigo, the apprentice shrine maiden is sorely disappointed and decides to pursue further training at the more prestigious Ise Grand Shrine. Two years later, Kikyo returns to the world as a fully fledged shrine maiden. Having completed her studies, she sets out for home, but along the way, she encounters another key figure: the Medicine Seller. Watching his unbelievably skillful plastering technique, you decide:
A. If you're not at the overpass, I'm not going.
B. Pick up just a tiny bit of his craft.
C. Help him hit his sales target.
*
After saying goodbye to the Medicine Seller, Kikyo returns to Kaede Village and takes over from the previous shrine maiden. At fifteen, she earns the title of Guardian Shrine Maiden of Kaede Village.
But while cleaning the dry well that very day, she slips and transmigrates to the modern world, somewhere around the early 2000s. As a guardian shrine maiden with grand ambitions, you decide:
A. My phone, where is my phone!
B. Embrace new ideas and strive to become a new kind of youth.
C. Find out where the time machine is.
*
After copying and pasting a whole bundle of infrastructure know-how with a single keystroke, Kikyo, unable to forget Kaede Village, decides to jump into the well again. The world spins around her, and when she sees the familiar war-torn era, Kikyo receives two pieces of good news and two pieces of bad news.
Good news: This is the Warring States period.
Bad news: There are no demons here, just fierce battles between ninja clans.
Good news: There are shrines here.
Bad news: The chief deity they worship is called the Sage of Six Paths.
After discovering that the currency isn't accepted here, you decide, now back to being penniless:
A. Return to your old line of work and infiltrate a shrine.
B. Try to contact the Sage of Six Paths.
C. Follow in the footsteps of the monks in your line of work and go begging for alms.
*
Not long after she begins to find her footing in this strange world, Kikyo is unlucky enough to be taken back as a souvenir from a trip to the Land of Demons by the head of the Uchiha clan :)
Because she possesses the precious ability to cure blindness caused by the Mangekyo, Kikyo is placed under house arrest at the Uchiha compound and treated to an abundance of food and creature comforts.
Kikyo realizes that if things keep going this way, she'll end up living the pampered life of leisure she'd dreamed of in her previous life. ...B-but Kaede Village is still waiting for me (struggling).
Perhaps Heaven favors Kikyo, who loves her village more than anything, because her struggle scores a huge success!
*
Kikyo is suddenly attacked by an unknown, pitch-black entity possessing a ninja!
Kikyo: ? She counters with a basic attack.
The unknown entity is surprisingly fragile. It immediately disengages and collapses, gravely wounded and barely alive.
Kikyo: ? Wait, what, bro.jpg
After the black entity is handed over, the Senju and Uchiha clans, who had been attacking each other all this time, quickly make peace and establish the village of Konoha.
Kikyo feels that Konoha is a lot like Kaede Village, so she shares her infrastructure know-how and then makes a run for it. After jumping into the well and finally returning to the familiar Kaede Village, Kikyo immediately throws herself and her younger sister Kaede into the work of building up the village.
But the gears of fate begin to turn: the curse of the shrine maiden Tsubaki, the arrival of the Shikon Jewel, and an encounter with a half-demon in red...
Kikyo, this time you decide:
Isn't pursuing your ambitions just great!
[Note]
1. After transmigrating, the heroine loses many of her memories and barely remembers the anime's plot. As she grows up, her outward personality becomes similar to anime Kikyo's, but she has plenty going on inside.
2. The heroine's birth and background are original, since I couldn't find any information about them.
3. The romantic pairing isn't decided yet. There may be no pairing, or she may end up with one character, who may not be Inuyasha.
4. There will be more transmigrations later, including a new arc in the Heian period...
Theme: With no men on your mind, your archery will naturally be divine.
