On so many nights when my thoughts wandered and my heart was in turmoil,
I was dragged back into the nightmares of the past.
I saw each stretch of wandering, and my heart ached unbearably.
With a pile of broken words, I tried to soothe
the scattered, long-endured pain.
But I found that lightly brushed-away tears and pale words
had nothing to do with it. For surging emotions
stirred up a raging chaos.
The returning train brought back only my body.
The person on the far shore of my heart will still feel
the companionship of the longing I left behind.
I searched through every volume of those old nightmares,
yet in every dream haunted by demons,
there was a window you had opened for me,
letting in rays of light to guide my lost soul,
as pure and dazzling as winter flowers beneath the snow.
All I lost was one chaotic stretch of the journey after another,
yet it was life whispering in my ear.
Confused memories overlap,
scattering, to accompany me for a lifetime…
