Three years ago, the government issued an announcement.
All citizens who passed the mental-power test were required to fulfill their civic duties. Once they reached the required age, they had to study at the Elf Institute and choose an elf to mark after completing their courses.
Throughout her classes, the heroine was repeatedly told: Elves are not human.
Elves are the result of natural evolution. They were originally nonhuman creatures of different species, but during the course of their evolution, they all gained humanoid forms and unique elven abilities. Before humans became aware of their existence, elves had easily blended into human society.
It wasn't until research uncovered elves many years ago, and found a way to distinguish humans from elves through genetic testing, that the government finally rooted out the elves hiding among the population.
At the same time, the government built the Elf Institute to house elves willing to submit to human government control.
Research also found that humans with powerful mental energy could "mark" elves. After being marked, elves became dependent on their marker's mental energy and needed to "connect" with their marker regularly. Otherwise, they would remain in a "low period."
When the heroine finally finished her courses and began choosing an elf, she encountered someone unexpected.
Why was her former teacher at the Elf Institute?
How had he become an elf?

Notes:
1. A story with a universally adored heroine, no male lead, and several major supporting characters.
2. The marking in this story can be understood as the marking in ABO fiction. The heroine will mark multiple elves as the story progresses.
3. The main romantic thread is male supporting characters falling for the heroine one-sidedly. The male supporting characters will suffer.
4. This story is currently in my upcoming works, and the setting may change again. If you're interested, please add it to your favorites. Favorites mean a lot to me.
