[Western Crossover] Surrounded by Fuzzy Friends, I'm Still Working Hard to Support My Family

[New novel, The World Where Only Batman Is Real, is now underway. Please show your support!]

One night, while I was frantically working on a deadline, a huge, badly injured dog suddenly appeared on my balcony.

As a Gothamite with a proper sense of civic responsibility, I pretended not to notice.

But I did have a little conscience, so I left a medical kit in front of him, hoping he would get the hint and leave.

Instead, the next day, I woke up to a sight that turned my whole worldview upside down. The red-haired dog had not only gotten back on his feet, he was cooking! And his cooking was really good!

So I came up with a bold idea.

The wolfdog successfully stayed. He could fight kidnappers one minute, then cook me a meal the next.

But as time went by, more and more furry creatures moved into my home. A fox even showed up.

I began worrying about next month's grocery bill, when the wolfdog suddenly tossed me a set of car keys bearing the Wayne logo.

Me: Haha, this is fake, right?

Wolfdog: Shakes his head.

Me: Feather duster, activate!

Gotham Police Department interrogation room.

Two men and a woman sat facing one another.

One of them, a handsome blue-eyed officer, held up a clear photograph and asked hesitantly, "You're saying your pets regularly sneak out in the middle of the night to act as vigilantes?"

Me: "Yes, officer."

At my answer, the other officer, who had green eyes, scoffed. "Miss, you need evidence to back up what you're saying."

I pounded the table. "Could you at least look at the photos I took before you say that?!" Those were the proof I'd managed to snap after staking things out for several nights!

The blue-eyed officer glanced at them quickly. The green-eyed one rubbed the tip of his nose.

Before long, the green-eyed officer pointed at the photos and declared loudly, "You've seen a ghost! Look at that fox. Its eyes are obviously up to no good! And that cat is so ugly!"

I was furious. "How could it be a ghost?! And that last part has nothing to do with the topic! Officer, your personal bias is showing!"

At that point, the blue-eyed officer smiled and quietly twisted the knife. "That maned wolf looks a bit stupid."

I broke down. "You two are the stupid ones! No, wait, I'm the stupid one for coming to the GCPD!"

The main story is everyday life told in the first person. The heroine doesn't know people can turn into animals, so from her perspective, the animals have become spirits.

In my personal headcanon, everyone except the heroine can turn into an animal. If badly injured, they regress into mindless animals. Aside from being able to ease the animals' mental pain, the heroine is just an ordinary person.

The story mainly revolves around the Batfamily. There are no couples in the main story, but the extras will follow each character's individual romance.

Warning: major OOC! Most of it is silly everyday life with nothing going on upstairs.

A work written for my own amusement. The setting is based on the official Beast World comics, with crossovers from The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today, The Little Girl Who Lives in a Rental Apartment, and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, among others.

Theme: Every ordinary day we experience may be a miracle happening over and over again.
