No one knows that Dazai Osamu, the infamous worrywart of the underworld, has a dark past like this.

He was deceived three times in a row by a witch named Kamon Mayo, yet he still refused to learn his lesson.

The first time, just after leaving home, he was lured in by the witch and mistook her for the one undying light she had kindled in a decaying world.

The second time, he thought he had discovered the witch's true nature: a demon through and through who wanted to toy with him and keep him under her thumb.

The third time, he finally saw clearly. He understood that she truly loved him, and truly deceived him, but by then he no longer wanted to run away.

"Kamon Mayo, have you ever told the truth even once?"

he asked.

"I'd say there are only a few things I've said that weren't true."

Some unknown "witch," Kamon Mayo: Sure, I'm fickle and always chasing the next thing, but I've always been a one-true-love kind of girl!

Kamon Mayo was just a fan of melodramatic dramas when she was alive. After her death, she had the misfortune of being possessed by an evil god from the Dark Continent, becoming a tentacle monster who might go berserk at any moment.

She walked the line between good and evil, joining forces with a true-love System to collect her targets' [Emotional Values] through romance, turning them into the power she needed to suppress the evil god.

And the moment she saw Dazai Osamu, she knew she had found a precious treasure she could never let go of, no matter what.

Years later, however, she realized that perhaps, maybe, probably (?) she had gone just a tiny bit too far.

She wanted to set him free, only to find that he was already beyond saving.

She asked for help, helplessly: How do you cure someone who's a hopeless romantic?

The great detective replied: Being a hopeless romantic is terminal. There's no cure, is there?

1. Female-lead focus. The female lead is sweet on the outside and dark within, extremely overpowered, and surrounded by melodrama. Dazai is the designated victim throughout the story.
