The Grim Reaper in a Suit

Others call them grim reapers. They call themselves movers of human souls.

The ghost bird, also called the ghost chariot or the nine-headed bird. It feeds on spirits without end, and was imprisoned by the Underworld in the sunless Nether Ghost Realm. Chen Qiye was born a ghost bird, but through a twist of fate, ended up among the underworld reapers.

She thought collecting souls and claiming lives would be a piece of cake. Instead, her days were spent hunting down corrupted fallen spirits and running into ghost birds way above her level on patrol. Her dream was to party all night; her reality was putting out fires every day.

...Her partner was a show-off, her boss was useless, and the intern was bursting with enthusiasm. Worst of all, the one who had stabbed her in the back years ago and nearly killed her now sat at the desk next to hers.

Fine. If you want to prove your Dao and ascend, you don't need to show mercy. But now that I've escaped the Nether Ghost Realm, why would I ever turn back?

The road is wide, but enemies always cross paths.

Smiles on their faces, schemes in their hearts.

The worst that could happen is all nine heads coming out, and another bloody storm to weather.
