Zhou Nian is a Beta, gloomy by nature and universally disliked.
He's the sworn enemy of Fu Shengyan, an S-class Alpha and a heaven-blessed genius who thinks the world of himself. They can't stand the sight of each other.
During a mission, Fu Shengyan is injured in the head and loses his memory. The doctor says there's no chance of recovery. Zhou Nian smiles.
When else will he get to settle their years-old score? He wants to see the heaven-blessed genius grovel before him.
“I am your partner.” Zhou Nian points to his own face and smiles at Fu Shengyan.
S-class Alphas are born with a strong sense of morality. They must be absolutely loyal and devoted to their partners. So Zhou Nian uses his status as Fu Shengyan's partner as an excuse to throw his weight around.
Though he claims to be his partner, Zhou Nian won't even let him hold his hand.
But he underestimates the mating heat of an S-class Alpha. He goes looking for trouble and ends up getting bitten instead.
Not only does he lose his first kiss, but Fu Shengyan, in the throes of mating heat, forcibly marks him. The stamina and possessiveness of an S-class Alpha leave him utterly miserable, until the command center calls in troops at short notice.
He happily sends Fu Shengyan off to fight in District One. After enjoying some freedom for a while, he hears from someone else that Fu Shengyan has regained his memories.
That means his own end is near. Fu Shengyan is back.
Fu Shengyan once pinned him down and marked him, keeping him in his arms and not letting him go for even a moment. But when they meet again, Fu Shengyan's face is cold and his gaze sharp. Zhou Nian feels as if he's sitting on pins and needles.
He tries to run, but someone grabs him.
“Zhou Nian, who marked you?” The usually cool and aloof Fu Shengyan looks furious as he stares at the bite marks on the back of Zhou Nian's neck. His voice is strained.
“?” So that's what he's angry about?
Perhaps he should be glad Fu Shengyan doesn't remember what happened while he had amnesia...
Zhou Nian feigns composure, coldly shakes off his hand, and says, “Are we close?” Then he strides away.
In reality, his legs are already weak, and he's busy plotting an escape.
But overnight, every Alpha who had come into contact with him is forced to submit to questioning. His escape fails, and Fu Shengyan keeps him confined at his side.
Looking at Fu Shengyan's reddened eyes and barely contained rage, Zhou Nian thinks: I really might be doomed.

Everyone assumes that while the unattainable beauty was suffering from amnesia, Zhou Nian tricked him into doing whatever he wanted, and that once his memories returned, he'd hate Zhou Nian to the bone.
Word gets out that Zhou Nian tried to escape and was caught. Everyone is waiting for a laugh.
Instead... the next day, news arrives that an S-class officer from District One is engaged.
The fiance is none other than Zhou Nian, the man he had captured.
