Lin Ze transmigrated into a book and became a beta lackey and cannon-fodder character in an ABO novel, one described in fewer than three sentences.

The beta's only purpose in the original story was to cheer on the alpha protagonist, the darling of the heavens.

The alpha protagonist fights.

Lin Ze applauds. "Ah, what a tall and mighty figure!"

The alpha protagonist gets angry.

Lin Ze points at the villain and threatens him. "Ah, just you wait!"

The alpha protagonist smiles.

Lin Ze tosses flower petals. "Ah! What a fine and dignified man..." Wait, why is he right in front of me?

The alpha pinched a pink petal that Lin Ze had failed to throw, gazed at the beta trying to look composed, and asked offhandedly, "Do you like me that much?"

Help, SOS... Boss, I'm just an ordinary beta lackey!

Lin Ze kept diligently playing the hype man, and finally rose to become the alpha protagonist's number one sidekick, though it seemed like Lierweis had no other underlings.

A sidekick should, of course, look after his boss. Sweet talk, warm concern, going through fire and water, and standing by him through thick and thin.

So when Lin Ze was cornered by Lierweis in a cramped mecha room, he was still trembling as he reassured himself that he'd go through fire and water and stand by his boss through thick and thin.

The alpha before him still looked calm, even indifferent.

"I forgot my suppressants."

"Can I bite you?"

Lin Ze looked up and saw his long eyelashes lowered, but couldn't see his shadowed eyes.

The alpha's voice was hoarse. He looked rather pitiful.

Betas couldn't be marked anyway, and this wasn't the first time. Thinking of their brotherly bond, Lin Ze steeled himself and said, "Just be gentle."

The ultimate goal of a lackey and hype man is, of course, to accompany the protagonist to the pinnacle of life, then leave without a trace, hiding all credit and glory.

That's the only way it could end.

So after the story ended and the alpha protagonist had made his name, Lin Ze turned and waved goodbye, leaving not a cloud behind.

Then he saw a wanted poster bearing his own face on a giant holographic screen.

His beloved boss, Lierweis, had put a huge bounty on him after he faked his death and disappeared.

Lin Ze's hand trembled slightly as he held his teacup. He couldn't remember doing anything to incur such a deep grudge from his boss...
