The Male Fairy

Chinese tales of the strange are full of stories about beautiful female demons and scholars.

Here, I want to write the gender-swapped version: stories about beautiful male demons and human women.

A candied-hawthorn-style collection of linked short stories. The ones I've thought of so far are:

1. Male mountain spirit x a bride traveling through the mountains to her wedding

2. Male fox spirit x the matriarch of a wealthy household

3. Male tree demon x a young lady raised in a secluded mansion

4. Male mermaid (well, a merman) x a widow sentenced to be drowned in a pond after her husband's death

5. Male White Bone Demon x an unlucky bride forced to marry a corpse

Theme: Women growing strong and independent
