Twenty years ago, a devastating disaster struck Yongli Island. Twenty years later, its aftershocks have reached Xuan Lie.

As an old-generation second-series mechanical body on the verge of being scrapped and turned into a pile of pots and pans, Xuan Lie never imagined he would one day be connected to the outlandish "Chip Apotheosis" project from twenty years ago.

But while everyone else is fighting to seize and obtain something, his mission is to destroy it.

They say Heaven bestows great responsibility... Starting out as a good-for-nothing, Xuan Lie finds every step a struggle. Fortunately, the roots of the old disaster run deep, and he isn't the only one drawn into the game.

His mentor's strange disappearance, a power struggle among blood relatives within the corporation, mysterious letters arriving at night, an invitation to form an alliance from mechanical bodies belonging to a rival corporation...

The truth from twenty years ago is like a thick book hidden in a fog, concealing all their identities and secrets. But the conspiracy will eventually unravel, and those who are guilty are fated to return to the scene of their crimes.

Just as Xuan Lie thinks he's about to embark on a solitary journey, he unexpectedly finds, amid all he gains and loses, the friendship, courage, and growth he hadn't found in the past twenty years, and also...

Having trained with weapons since childhood and entered university at sixteen, Ji Linzhu is the kind of talent who makes up for a lack of natural ability with hard work. She decides to cross the ocean and find a job on Yongli Island, thousands of kilometers away.

Ji Linzhu: Don't ask. I'm just a tadpole looking for its mother.

During the devastating disaster twenty years ago, Ji Linzhu's parents, core members of the Shun Clan's top team, went missing. Years later, she receives a letter from them. After careful consideration, she decides to come see for herself.

With a competition coming up, maybe she can find her parents and make a fortune at the same time?

Ji Linzhu: No time like the present! But my robot companion seems a little dim...

Gradually, Xuan Lie realizes he seems to pay special attention to the human girl traveling with him. He can't forget her no matter how hard he tries, even though he still doesn't understand the difference between friendship, romantic love, and family affection.

Everyone else: I think you've got a bit of a one-track mind when it comes to love...

What's the point of making all those promises? Robots and humans aren't the same!

Notes:

1. This story is told primarily from the male lead's perspective. [Not a male-power fantasy, dual strong leads]

2. Mechanical bodies are robots, but robots are not necessarily mechanical bodies. Mechanical bodies are closer to androids, like humanoid robots. Humans and machines coexist in this setting, including beings who are half human and half machine. Complete models are robots more advanced and fully developed than ordinary mechanical bodies.

3. A gradual growth story: going from weak to strong takes time. Slow burn.

4. Advocates universal love, but the protagonist isn't a saint.
