A Qing Dynasty Side Consort's Leisurely Life

[This story is complete! My next novel will be The One Under Heaven, set in the Song dynasty. If you're interested, feel free to check it out.]

Baoyue went to Yonghe Temple to pray, asking to pass her exams, get rich, and find a tall, handsome, wealthy boyfriend.

She had barely closed her eyes and bowed her head when she opened them to find herself kneeling and receiving an imperial decree.

“...”

She became a secondary consort from the start. How was that not a successful career? She had landed herself a royal meal ticket right away.

It even came with a lifetime warranty. Unless something unexpected happened, she could eat until something unexpected happened.

All she had to do was lie low and make it through until Fourth Prince became emperor. She would have picked the winning answer and reached the pinnacle of life!

So she began her peaceful life of not bothering anyone unless they bothered her (X).

Many years later, the people in Fourth Prince's household said, “Take a look at us. Do we look like we're at the pinnacle of life?”

Yinzhen had always thought romantic entanglements were trivial. It was only after gaining Baoyue that he realized he was just an ordinary man with someone he especially favored.

Whenever this woman left him speechless, all he had to do was look at her face and his anger faded. He could even smoothly talk himself into feeling better.

Oh, well. Someone as precious as jade and gold deserved to live in a palace built of jade and gold. Yinzhen contentedly held the beauty in his arms. He wanted both the empire and the beauty!

Reader's Guide:

This is my take on a Qing-dynasty transmigration story, not a historical account. There are tons of original elements, and the leads are not each other's first. After the female lead arrives, she is the only one he favors. Don't ask me if exclusive favor is plausible in the Qing dynasty. It is, it is, it is!

A heads-up: the romance between the leads moves very quickly. There will be no major twists or angst in Fourth Prince's household, and there will be very little domestic scheming, almost none. The main focus is sweet romance, the fight for the throne, and life after his accession.

Theme: No matter the circumstances, stay true to yourself and live your own life
