When Lan Hu opened her eyes, she had become a young woman from the 1970s who shared her name. Right in front of her was a gossip session full of people shouting abuse at one another. Lan Hu was thoroughly enjoying the spectacle until the culprit pointed the finger at her.
Oh, really? Then she'd pin it right back on them.
She'd barely dealt with the trouble in front of her when disaster struck from out of nowhere: a club came down from above and knocked her unconscious.
"What rotten luck." That was Lan Hu's first thought when she woke up.
The future she'd worked so hard for was gone, and so was her chance to make money collecting rent.
Instead, her parents had been sent away, she was living under someone else's roof, and after just graduating from middle school, she had been sent back to the village to work.
The next day, after harvesting wheat until blisters covered her hands, Lan Hu accepted her fate and looked for another way forward.
Then she took her first step into the soybean-product business. Tofu was delicious, so she made it! Soy milk was tasty, so she made that too! Tofu skin had a market, so she made that as well! She went from the brigade's tofu workshop to a soybean-product factory.
Lan Hu shamelessly pointed to herself and boasted, "I am the tofu queen of our time."
Theme: As long as life goes on, so does the struggle
I finished reading it all at once, it's very interesting.
