After being struck by lightning, Jian Lubai is supposed to follow the path of a vicious villain, but he refuses to follow the plot.

As punishment, he suffers Heaven's wrath before he can even turn evil. His spiritual roots are taken, he is expelled from his sect, and his reputation is ruined. All under Heaven know him for his wickedness.

Jian Lubai: Repentance makes you three-tenths weaker; turning evil makes you ten times stronger.

So he truly turns evil, struggling at the bottom of the abyss. When evil spirits ravage the human world, he strides across mountains of corpses and seas of blood, slays every last one, and puts an end to it all. Even the protagonist cannot compare.

Jian Lubai reverses time and returns to his youth, where everything begins again.

Then Jian Lubai finds someone who seems familiar, cloaked in gloom like a lonely spirit from the abyss.

Self-absorbed and bored, he keeps his inner demon by his side to tease it, looking after its mental health.

It isn't until the "inner demon" presses close and nuzzles against him that Jian Lubai belatedly realizes things have gone too far.

After being struck by lightning, Xuan Mosheng learns not only that he was originally a vicious villain, but also that a soul from the future has taken over his identity. He himself has approached that person under a new identity.

That Jian Lubai is learned and refined, with a gaze calm as water and not a hint of sharpness, like a bright moon amid pure dust.

Though he thinks Xuan Mosheng is his inner demon, he treats him with warmth and indulgence.

Xuan Mosheng: Heh, interesting.

Xuan Mosheng casually traces Jian Lubai's neck and kisses his lips. "It doesn't matter that you took my identity. You can make it up to me."

"Bright as the wind and moon" and "spirited and proud" were never words used to describe him.

Obsessive and extreme, willing to do anything to achieve his aims: that's who he is.
