Late Summer, Evening Stars

"I want to be the only one in your eyes."

Substitute romance

-

The first time Sheng Ruxia met Jiang Muxing was at three in the morning in the emergency department lobby. She had just finished resuscitating a patient. The man had a tall, lean figure and wore a black uniform that made him look even more striking. She'd heard of him: a remarkable new talent recently transferred to the SWAT team, born into a wealthy family and cold by nature, always indifferent to everyone.

Sheng Ruxia hadn't paid much attention to any of that. She'd heard it and promptly forgotten it, until the man turned and walked toward her. The sight of his face left her momentarily dazed...

_

After that, the two of them kept running into each other more and more. Jiang Muxing seemed to get injured all the time, and Sheng Ruxia found herself paying attention to him without even realizing it. When her colleagues noticed, they teased her: "It's rare to see our emergency department's untouchable ice queen care so much about someone. But I hear that guy thinks he's above everyone!"

Sheng Ruxia just smiled without answering, until someone spotted them coming and going from each other's homes...

When they first met, he coldly thanked Sheng Ruxia for treating his wounds.

Later, through countless quiet nights filled with mingled breaths, he held her close and whispered seductively in her ear, "Baby, let's do that again, okay?"

_

The day the truth came out, Sheng Ruxia sat alone on the balcony and drank for a long time. Only when his icy voice sounded behind her did she snap out of her daze.

"Are you with me because I look so much like him?"
