And Yet You Came Closer

Gu Jinsi, a financial mogul renowned on Wall Street, returned to China, and his former classmates and friends organized a gathering to celebrate.

During the meal, they started talking about the campus belle at the university next door. Countless people had tried and failed to get even a word in with her.

Recently, though, rumors had been circulating that a luxury car often picked her up after class. Apparently, she had a boyfriend.

A busybody started gossiping: "I heard he's a real estate company boss in his fifties or sixties. Young girls these days..."

Gu Jinsi's gaze darkened, and he silently drained his glass.

That night, a visitor unexpectedly showed up at Gu Nian's place off campus.

The night was deep and still, with a faint glimmer beside the bed.

The girl's soft voice mingled with the lazy music: "Could you stop picking me up at school from now on? My classmates are getting the wrong idea..."

"The wrong idea about what?" Gu Jinsi bit her ear. "That I'm a real estate boss in my fifties or sixties?"

Gu Nian pressed her lips together. In the lamplight, her skin was pale with a rosy flush, like a ripe peach.

He pinched her until she nearly melted in his grasp. "What, can't even call me big brother anymore?"

Gu Jinsi had always been the kind of child other parents wished they had: handsome, gifted, and an excellent student.

Gu Nian was his little sidekick. She was content to lie flat and coast through school, thinking that as long as her big brother did well, she'd have food and clothes without lifting a finger.

Until she was eleven, when a Mercedes-Benz pulled up outside their gate and her mother told her that those were her brother's biological parents.

Tips: The leads are not blood-related and are not on the same household registration. There is no romance between them before adulthood.
