A bold, dazzling female general × a decisive, lovesick emperor
Wen Yan of the Wen family was one of the most legendary names in Great Zhao.
Her mother died when she was born, and her father died when she was ten. She shouldered the legacy of the Wen family's military lineage, and at a young age joined the army to defend the northern borders, earning great military distinction in the harsh frontier.
When she came of age at fifteen, the emperor personally went to the borderlands to place her hairpin, appoint her as a general, and betroth her to Crown Prince Lou Qing.
From Wen Yan of the Wen family and Princess Anle, she became the youngest general in Great Zhao's history.
Later, when the emperor died, she returned to the capital to rescue the court and support Lou Qing. Just as everyone thought the two of them would make a perfect couple, the young emperor drove her back to the northern frontier.
Lou Qing still clearly remembered the day after the late emperor's death. Wen Yan was still a young girl, her expression grim. Holding a tiger tally in one hand and a whip in the other, she forced open the doors of the hall.
It was dusk that day. Dressed in armor, she stepped through the blood-red sunset and bowed before him.
“Your subject Wen Yan pays her respects to Your Majesty.”
The late emperor had made her Princess Anle, granting her the honor of never having to kneel before the emperor for the rest of her life.
Yet she returned all that glory to him.
