After discovering he'd been reborn sixty years in the past, just before an age of chaos was about to begin, Tan Yu wasn't the least bit worried. In fact, he thought it was a great opportunity. In peaceful times, becoming a peaceful minister and making a name for yourself in the history books is incredibly difficult! How could that compare to the founding of a dynasty, when meritorious officials and valiant generals abound, each one immortalized in the Hall of Lingyan?
Tan Yu: Wonderful. Armed with the old stories I heard from my teachers and everything I've learned in my life, I'll go serve the founding emperor and become one of his original followers. I'll put my knowledge to good use, make a name for myself in the history books, and bring peace to the realm sooner!
But as Tan Yu grew up, with the age of chaos drawing ever nearer and more news reaching his ears, he suddenly realized something was wrong. For example
Tan Yu: Where's the Great Qi founding emperor I was expecting? The realm is about to descend into chaos. Without a ruler of destiny like him, how can we restore our homeland?!
But no matter what, the Great Qi founding emperor really was nowhere to be found. The realm couldn't remain in chaos forever, so Tan Yu had no choice but to set out in search of a ruler of destiny...
P.S.:
* Great Qi was a dynasty founded by a transmigrator after the Han dynasty had ended. Naturally, its founding emperor was the transmigrator himself: a wise and mighty man, a true Child of Destiny who was even more impressive than Er Feng, and quite humorous, too. He was the ultimate fantasy of a great ruler in a chaotic age. I really wanted to write his story, but he was just too perfect, so I didn't. Thus, he has no real-world or fictional-life inspiration. You don't need to know his story to enjoy what follows.
* Tan Yu comes from an alternate historical timeline created by this gentleman. So although the Great Qi founding emperor doesn't exist in this world, his style and his opinions of historical figures still have a marked influence on his devoted admirer, Tan Yu.
* The protagonist's given name and courtesy name both come from a divination. The upper trigram is Zhen, the lower trigram is Kun, and together they form the Yu hexagram. The moving line is the second line, the famous one that reads, "Firm as a rock, not waiting out the day, perseverance brings good fortune." Divination is, in a sense, the will of Heaven, so in both his lives he has the courtesy name Jie Fu. Considering that Wang Anshi, the famous prime minister of the Song dynasty, also had the courtesy name Jie Fu, you can imagine how the transmigrator emperor felt when he saw Tan Yu's name. (The founding emperor: Since your courtesy name is Jie Fu, how can you not become a prime minister? Train him! Make sure he's trained properly!) (All we can say is, thank goodness his courtesy name isn't Jie Shi. If he had run into an emperor who loved making jokes, the consequences would have been unthinkable!)
* Because he was affected from boyhood by all the chaos caused by the transmigrator's butterfly effect, Tan Yu's lifelong ideal is "to settle the affairs of the realm for his ruler, and win fame in life and after death." So he really is destined to become an extraordinary prime minister. Let's hope he gets his wish!
* After the novel begins, it will update daily at six in the morning. Morning updates mean I won't be late! I've already completed three long novels, so you can count on me to finish this one!
