Yin Deng, a rookie at the Transmigration Bureau, is sent on an urgent mission to take over from a senior colleague who has only completed half of hers. She arrives in a cultivation world, but the System manages to send her only part of her colleague’s memories before it crashes. Her colleague vanishes right along with it.
Yin Deng: ...
I mean, they could at least have told me who the male and female leads are, and what the mission is...
I’m tired. Let it all burn.
*
In her first year of lying flat, she meets an injured fluffy little creature. Her heart goes out to it, so she tucks it into her arms and takes it home.
*
In her third year of lying flat, the fluffy creature turns into a pretty little girl of five or six. With no other choice, Yin Deng takes her in as a disciple and begins raising a child.
*
In her eighth year of lying flat, her beloved disciple has grown into a breathtakingly beautiful young woman of eighteen or nineteen, but has started acting strange every day.
Yin Deng observes her discreetly for a while. One day, she accidentally stumbles upon her beloved disciple’s private midnight secret and is utterly stunned. It takes her half a year to accept that her beautiful little disciple is actually a boy.
Later, she thinks over her disciple’s odd behavior. Since his original form was a little animal, and it’s spring, she suddenly understands. She introduces him to several pretty female cultivators. In the end, her disciple darkens his expression, raises a paw, and chases her around the sect’s mountain more than ten times, threatening to kill his own teacher. She nearly runs herself into the ground.

Much later, Yin Deng thinks she has finally figured out who the leads are and what the main plot is. She throws herself into the role of the wicked supporting female character, scheming against the female lead and plotting to make the male lead marry her.
On her wedding night, Yin Deng sits in the bridal chamber, waiting for the female lead to storm in with people and expose her wicked deeds in front of the male lead. But the person who arrives is her beloved disciple, dressed in red and stunningly beautiful.
Her good disciple wears a red wedding robe. A smear of scarlet blood stains his impossibly exquisite face, making him look even more bewitching.
He tilts his head and looks at her with fervent obsession. With a casual wave of one hand, the male lead’s life-bound sword, stained with blood, rolls to a stop at her feet.
Yin Deng loses her nerve. She has barely taken a step to escape when an arm locks around her waist. Her former disciple pulls her into his arms from behind and murmurs softly:
“Master, have you always wanted to know who I dreamed about that night in the bamboo cottage on Song Mountain?”
[Bonus Scene]
For the tenth time, Yin Deng thinks she has found the male lead and gets ready to go win him over. But just as she steps out the door, someone grabs her by the back of her collar and tosses her inside again.
Her beloved disciple, now looking like an eighteen-year-old young man, gazes at the master who loves flirting with everyone with possessive eyes. He casually tosses something over, and an immortal-binding rope coils around the woman’s ankle.
“If Master truly can’t change this habit of falling for everyone, then let your disciple help you break it.”
Reading Guide:
1. Female teacher and male disciple. The heroine thinks the male lead is a little girl throughout the early part of the story.
2. The male lead is a jealous little thing: adorable at first, a demon king later.
3. My own take on cultivation, with mountains of original worldbuilding. The focus is the romance between the leads, not a female-led power-up story.
Theme: Care for the people around you who love you
