Chen Zaixi was reborn and learned a secret: she was the unpopular saintly supporting heroine in a post-apocalyptic story about a powerful woman.
The heroine is a transmigrator from Earth. After surviving countless near-death escapes, she takes a dark path through blood and violence. She will stop at nothing to overthrow the Holy Church and the rule of the financial conglomerates, killing a million to save ten million.
But just before the new government can be established, the world is utterly destroyed. After learning the “truth” behind the apocalypse, the heroine goes mad.
Unfortunately, Chen Zaixi is not only a spiritual practitioner of the Holy Church, but also the legitimate daughter of the Chen financial conglomerate, which controls genetic evolution technology. By nature, she stands against the protagonist.
She lives in a post-apocalyptic utopia, the capitalist at the very top of the ivory tower. When she first appears, she is cursed by countless people for insisting on rescuing those trapped in danger. Within three chapters, she is killed off by the plot, to the applause of the “Observers of Myriad Worlds.”
They say her soul is impure, and judge her guilty of hypocrisy.
Chen Zaixi: “...”
Thanks, that really hurt. Who exactly was she inconveniencing by carrying out a rescue mission?
Chen Zaixi, who has access to the interface spanning countless worlds, quietly watches the live-stream screen before her as all kinds of comments flash past.
This is a divine game played across the worlds. The gods raise worlds whose fortunes have run their course and “observe” them, sending in people of great fortune who carry golden fingers. They make these people fight and plunder one another for the entertainment of the observers from all worlds.
And she is nothing more than an insignificant native in the protagonist's “plotline,” disliked by the observers and forced to be killed off by the plot. She is a toy for the gods, a saint condemned for hypocrisy, an NPC erased solely because the observers dislike her.
“Miss Chen, it is time to choose your guardians.”
She was reborn on the day she became a spiritual practitioner and had to choose three guardians.
Chen Zaixi comes back to herself, her gaze passing over the young men and women kneeling on one knee before her. She knows that among them are people of great fortune who refuse to submit to fate. Behind every protagonist's plotline lies the gaze of the gods.
The gods will create deadly threats and revel in the protagonists' struggles. They will decide the fates of NPCs in the story according to their whims, and may even descend into the game themselves.
The victor who fights their way through all of this, the one woman who becomes the sole heroine of the game in the gods' eyes, faces dangers around her that are even more “twisting and dramatic.”
Yet Chen Zaixi still reaches out to her without hesitation.
“Song Ningye, please be my guardian.”
