The Days of Striving to Eat Well in Ancient Times

Under revision and ongoing serialization. Originally titled "Fleeing Famine"

Looking back on her life, Wang Anyu remembers a journey full of hardship and wandering. When she first opened her eyes, all she wanted was enough to eat in a peaceful age.

As a girl, she had a thatched hut, rough clothes, meals of beans, and a fifteen-year-old older brother.

She had barely made it through her second day when locusts devoured the crops for a thousand miles and a long drought dried up the riverbeds. If she'd known, she wouldn't have reincarnated. Who would want to come to this awful place?

She went out once and came back to find people trying to steal their food. Did they think she was too short to hold a knife? As outsiders in the village, she and her brother got no help from the village chief, who just tried to keep the peace. She got mad, then got over it, climbed over the wall in the middle of the night, and robbed the families who had come to steal their food. Then she set off with her brother and their provisions. But on the road, they ran into government relief efforts and desperate refugees in an uproar. Things seemed more complicated than they appeared, and with undercurrents swirling, where would their journey lead?

Reader note: The heroine has no romantic pairing and won't flirt with anyone else or marry later on. She disguises herself as a man and will eventually reveal her identity herself.

Come enjoy the food I made.
