Seeing how all the police academy guys were childhood friends with deep bonds, Kisaragi Ren puffed out his chest in excitement. With a setup like this, he could get promoted by just tying a dog to a few arrows and shooting them at random!
But after shooting his arrows of love, Kisaragi Ren waited and waited. Three years, and then another three years (not really). He still hadn't gotten promoted or returned to the divine realm.
Unwilling to give up, Kisaragi Ren used the Eye of Love to see what had gone wrong in the future of these childhood-friend couples he had meddled with.
One pair both died at the hands of a bomber. In another, one died and the other survived. In the last, one died and the other committed suicide out of grief.
Kisaragi Ren fell silent, then couldn't help flying into a rage. He threw down his arrows of love and picked up a knife.
So what if they were just bombers? So what if they were just the Black Organization? Anyone who dared stand in the way of a love god's promotion would be slaughtered!
Three years, and then another three years later, Kisaragi Ren had finally managed to take down all the villains. Full of anticipation, he burned incense and bathed, ready to open the Eye of Love on an auspicious day and see whether the couples he'd worked so hard to protect would get their happy endings. But a man in a knit cap, who had been plotting for a long time, reached out and took his hand first.
"Lord God of Love, instead of pinning your hopes on other people, why not fall in love yourself?"
The apprentice god of love's face turned suspiciously red.
Having been through it all, the apprentice god of love finally understood what love was.
Rather than looking forward to becoming a full-fledged god of love, he would rather look forward to the day he and his boyfriend made their relationship official.
