School and city life, reunited after years apart

Cheng Yi has an absolutely explosive temper.

At the Jianian Qing offline event, she reunites with her nemesis. Chen Qingxu wonders if he has mistaken her for someone else. She's certainly cool and distant, but not to this extent.

Only later does he find out that she's only explosive around him.

"Cheng Yi, did I do something to offend you?"

"You've offended me in every way."

"Give me an example?" Chen Qingxu struggles to think of anything he might have done to upset her.

"I just hate him. I really, really hate him."

One day, when they meet.

A message meant for her best friend goes to the wrong number.

Chen Qingxu reads the incoming message and remembers the heartless person who sneaked out at five in the morning with her clothes, leaving behind an IOU for a thousand yuan. He laughs in exasperation.

At their high school reunion, they look back on a past that was romantic and bittersweet.

"I had a crush on a boy. I secretly followed behind him, stepping where he stepped, hoping that one of my steps would overlap with his. Does that count?"

It counts. Of course it counts.

After a few rounds of drinks, Cheng Yi falls asleep by the sofa while her friends look after her.

The conversation should have ended there, but for some reason, they turn to the latecomer and ask him the same question.

Chen Qingxu turns his head. The hazy lights trace the woman's features again and again. She's so docile now, even though she called his message an essay on the phone that afternoon.

Hmph.

Back to the question.

It's quite a regret.

"In my second year of high school, I thought that before graduation, I had to confess to the girl I liked."
