The Green Bamboo Hairpin

On the day of the spring imperial examination, Qi Zhen's entire family was arrested and their assets confiscated. Her career prospects were ruined, and she vanished without a trace, as if she had never existed.

Five years later, her former fiancé, Han Da, had risen to great heights and taken a beautiful wife, while Qi Zhen scraped by taking odd jobs in the martial world.

When the spring examination came around again, she was hired to escort her client, Chen Qing, to the capital to sit for the exam. Her fee was a mere two qian of silver.

Who could have guessed that Chen Qing, though handsome and refined, was so frail he couldn't manage on his own? He even needed Qi Zhen's help to memorize his books.

Chen Qing, with sparkling eyes: Thank you for your guidance, Heroine! It's all clear to me now!

Qi Zhen, with a deadpan expression: Don't mention it. It's my own fault.

What danger could there be in escorting an obscure scholar? But Qi Zhen never imagined anyone would actually try to kill him.

One morning, Chen Qing disappeared.

Just when she was at a loss, she ran into Han Da again.

[A beautiful, powerful, tragic, sharp-tongued, proud heroine and an upright, forthright, loyal scholar]
