Ye Suhe woke up one morning and found herself in 1976.
The original owner of her body had fallen into the water. Though someone rescued her, her reputation was ruined. Her stepmother, wanting money, was now forcing her to marry an old bachelor in town.
Ye Suhe had no intention of marrying him. With nowhere else to turn, she sought out Huo Linchuan, the man who had saved her.
At the time, Huo Linchuan's grandfather was gravely ill, and his constant worry about his grandson's future marriage was keeping him from recovering.
After hearing why she had come, the man's distant gaze settled on her face. His voice was low. "Comrade Ye Suhe, how about marrying me?"
Looking at his stern, proper face and tall, straight figure in uniform, which gave him an air of righteousness, Ye Suhe inexplicably followed him to register their marriage.
She had assumed they were simply getting what they wanted: she could leave that household, and Huo Linchuan could make his grandfather happy.
But on the very night they moved in together, he stopped her at the bedroom door.
The man looked cool and collected, glanced at the bedding in her arms, and said helplessly, "Comrade Ye Suhe, I made sure to ask you before we registered our marriage."
Ye Suhe recalled what had happened.
As they stood outside the marriage bureau, he had suddenly turned to her and said, "Once we register, there's no taking it back. Have you really made up your mind?"
