From the Start, a Rogue App: Technology Saves China's Entertainment Industry

Zhong Yin was bound to a miraculous high-tech System, and her mission was to save the entertainment industry.

Zhong Yin: Be honest, does this make any sense?

But circumstances left her no choice. Through her tears, she accepted the mission and quickly cobbled together a rogue app that could instantly strip away beauty filters, makeup, and even plastic surgery, restoring a person’s natural face with a single tap. Then she put it on the market.

Within days, the ugly men and plain women who relied on face-swapping, makeup, and heavy editing to look presentable, while marketing themselves as "gorgeous," were all exposed.

From then on, the scandals of the entertainment industry and the evil capitalists behind them faced one nightmare after another.

Zhong Yin created an "Absolutely Real" social app, and from then on, comment manipulation vanished and online troll armies could no longer operate.

Zhong Yin then designed a consciousness helmet that revealed people’s truest selves and put it to use on a variety show. The celebrities who appeared on it were forced to drop their disguises.

Zhong Yin then went and created a program that could generate virtual characters and act out scenes based on a script. Actors who relied on green screens and body doubles, and weren’t even as good as AI, soon found themselves unable to get roles...

Time and again, they were driven to desperation. They even considered crowdfunding to hire someone to secretly kill Zhong Yin. But when they turned around, they found that the powerful nation that had been quietly protecting her from the shadows had already drawn its blade.

All the entertainment industry’s villains: We’ll change! We’ll all clean up our act, okay!?

Theme: Let your ideals run wild.
