But she wasn't strong enough, and the Soul Jade turned on her. While her senior sister was away exorcising demons, she turned the peaceful Cangmiao Sect into a living hell overnight.

To keep the Soul Jade from throwing the world into chaos, her senior sister went in search of it, meeting all kinds of companions along the way. In the end, she destroyed the Soul Jade, defeated the mastermind, and got her happy ending.

In the dream, the Soul Jade controlled her and she committed a monstrous crime. Pei Zhiyun, one of only two survivors at Cangmiao Sect, was also suspected of having traces of the Soul Jade's aura inside him and was confined at the sect.

When he appeared in Wei Mingshu's dream again, she didn't know what other mistake he'd made, but he had become a powerless mortal too.

Before any of it had happened, Wei Mingshu looked at the clean-featured, slender young man before her. After agonizing over it for a long while, she finally managed to blurt out:

"I want to go down the mountain and have some fun. I'm missing a companion. Do you... want to come?"

Pei Zhiyun watched the girl in front of him awkwardly invite him to leave with her using a clumsy excuse. His long lashes lowered, hiding the chill in his eyes. His face still wore the sweet, obedient expression Wei Mingshu knew so well.

"Of course I'd be happy to go with you, Senior Sister."

Much later, as arms held her tightly and a silvery-white fish tail wound around her legs again and again, warm, damp breaths and lingering kisses brushed her ear. Pei Zhiyun's face flushed, and his trembling throat gave voice to a soft, lilting song. Only then did Wei Mingshu suddenly remember something very important:

That final big boss, who was good at bewitching people and fond of pretending to be mortal... wasn't he a merfolk?

2. The Yun in the male lead's name Zhiyun is pronounced yun.

3. Zhiyun isn't a good person, but he isn't exactly a bad one either. He's simply a hopeless romantic through and through. The things Mingshu dreams about all have foreshadowing.

A flash of golden light appeared, revealing the phantom of a handsome young man in a deep slumber.
