[Vicious Consort x Ambitious Tyrant | Actually, Two Poor Souls Just Trying to Stay Alive]
While Hou Nian was forced to radically alter her screen adaptation, she accidentally transmigrated into the world of the book.
Before she could even open her eyes, a basin of ice-cold water drenched her to the bone. Then came the words, "Kill her and send her to Moonlight Palace, along with that beast." Before she could figure out what was happening, she became a disposable extra who was killed off.
Hou Nian thought she was dreaming, but an urgent voice rang in her head: "Host, you aren't dreaming. You've transmigrated into a book. You must succeed within your next three attempts, or else..." Before she could ask what would happen, she began another transmigration.
On her second attempt, she became Consort Shu, a lovesick fool who was blind in both heart and eye. She opened her eyes to find herself holding a dagger. She killed the emperor, then was executed on the spot.
On her third attempt, she finally became the original heroine, but arrived just as the vicious consort sent her to her death with a cup of poisoned wine. Not a single person around her survived.
"You lousy System, can you do anything useful?" Before she could recover, the mechanical voice sounded again.
"The third self-rescue attempt is about to begin. Please choose your role in the book, nineteen, eighteen, seventeen..." Since when did this come with a countdown?
At the very moment the countdown ended, the System suddenly froze. She vaguely heard it say, "Transferring two Hosts."
On her fourth transmigration, she became the vicious consort in the book. She was raising her cup to celebrate becoming empress when she suddenly slipped, fell off an arched bridge, and landed on a passing boat, capsizing it.
"Warning, warning! Host's self-rescue has failed. Entering cyclical transmigration mode, which will continue until the self-rescue succeeds or your life force is depleted."
As expected, all three self-rescue attempts had failed. Hou Nian had created every character in the book herself. Was she supposed to keep transmigrating as the villainess until she had experienced every possible way to die?
"Cyclical mode activated. Transferring two Hosts into the book's world."
"Wait, two Hosts?" Before she could finish asking, the System let out a cold, crashing sound.
Why two again? Was there another person who had transmigrated into a book?
Hou Nian didn't know that every time she was killed, there was someone beside her, or something, having an even worse time.
