Sang Jimiao is an ordinary orphan on Blue Xuan Star, but he doesn't feel sad about it. That's because he isn't human, and he isn't a mayfly either.

The vast universe is home to countless races, and at the very top of the pyramid are the Voidborn, eternal beings whose nature is beyond the understanding of gods and ghosts.

Mayflies are born in the morning and die by nightfall. During the long larval stage of the floating mystic mayfly, every metamorphosis takes it on a wondrous journey to a different plane.

Each journey brings him closer to becoming a subimago, until he finds his lifelong partner and breaks out of his cocoon as an imago. The imago eats nothing, living instead on love.

His bonded little dumpling: "Sang Sang, have you decided what you want to do in the different planes? Get revenge and turn the tables? Farm and build a home? A tragic romance?"

Sang, the laid-back larva: "I choose beachcombing!"

And so, the mayfly began to take on different forms:

A ferocious mermaid, beachcombing for giant seafood in a post-apocalyptic plane of mutation;

An elemental spirit, beachcombing through a dazzling sea of cards in a card-game plane;

A petrified insect egg, beachcombing through a frenzied sea of insects in an interstellar plane;

A white-haired auspicious beast, beachcombing for heavenly treasures in a cultivation plane;

Su Kongming is an ancient Voidborn, a member of the Dragon Clan of Eternity, born in the depths of the universe. One dream lasts a thousand years. To him, all things are fleeting.

To pass the time during his long life as a dragon, he ventured into countless worlds. In one plane, he unexpectedly discovered a larval floating mystic mayfly.

At first he watched just to pass the time. Then he couldn't help but step in to help. Then he accompanied the little fellow through his experiences as he underwent a perfect metamorphosis...
