Sherlock Holmes unfolded the newspaper.
"My dear Watson, I believe we've found the suspect in the theft."
"Who?"
"Mycroft's blind date! The woman who once got the better of him." Sherlock couldn't help laughing. "Aha, that explains it. If Scotland Yard won't handle it, we'll go to Miss Moriarty."
*
Meanwhile.
"You seem to have put on quite a bit of weight lately, dear Mr. Holmes."
Mycroft scrutinized the woman across from him.
She was dignified, beautiful, elegant, and captivating. Every frown and smile could steal one's heart.
A proper lady of the British Empire?
What a performance!
"I've been busy with some complicated cases. They're very difficult."
"How difficult?"
"Like you." He pretended to speak casually.
She was a scarlet rose, and a viper in the garden.
Mycroft Holmes would never forget what she was like before.
The girl had been as frail as a sick kitten, yet she'd done everything she could to avenge her foster father, Moriarty.
Caroline Moriarty had pretended to be a pitiful orphan to win people's trust.
Then she'd become overconfident and careless at a crucial moment, and ended up at death's door!
Mycroft had once thought of himself as a perfectly rational machine, until he met her.
A woman who could leave even Death at a loss.
*
To Caroline, government official Mycroft Holmes was more of a demon than her foster father.
A true devil.
He could do anything.
"Me? I'm a foolish girl, Mycroft," Caroline said.

Because I could not stop for Death, he kindly stopped for me. In the carriage there were only the two of us, and Immortality. (Emily Dickinson)

"Exactly, John. That's the problem."
*
Three years after transmigrating, she encountered a scumbag. At a ball, her fiance openly flirted with his mistress.
She left in humiliation, only to be pushed into the water by someone.
To survive, she had to find the truth.
As she investigated, she discovered that a series of seemingly unrelated cases were connected by countless threads.
Even more shocking, she discovered that her supposed rival in love was actually a debauched man dressed as a woman. And on top of that, he might not even be human!
"Your name is Ophelia? What an unlucky name."
"I think the fact that your surname is Moriarty is more dangerous."
*
A dangerous, alluring nineteenth century in a fictional world.
You can't trust anyone.
Not even your own reason!
The only truth is the weapon in your hand, and a romantic, illusory love!
Upcoming story 2
"The Holmes Family's Archrival"
Jennifer had snow-white skin and a thick mane of red hair. She was talented and witty, a "literary goddess" in London's salons.
However, London's nineteenth-century literary scene was controlled by men who wallowed in self-pity. In their eyes, women were decoration, dinner-table conversation, and people to steal from. Jennifer soon grew tired of the art world.
Later, she learned that she had a half-brother, the mysterious and dangerous Earl Moriarty. With nothing better to do, Jennifer volunteered to start a new career.
Her brother recognized her talent and took her under his wing with great care.
Before long, Jennifer had become a major figure in London's underworld.
She was a criminal with principles, targeting only the hidebound aristocrats of the upper classes and the capitalist devils who exploited workers. She was always happy to lend a hand to those in need.
Playing "Robin Hood," robbing the rich to help the poor, made Jennifer feel that her life had meaning.
Business was going smoothly until the Holmes brothers appeared, her brother James Moriarty was thrown into an asylum, and the organization fell apart. London's gangs fought over territory like mad dogs.
"Damn those Holmeses." Jennifer swore she would take revenge!

The Holmes family, guardians of London.
Many years ago.
By day, Mycroft was the laziest civil servant in the British Empire, and the government couldn't function without him. He leisurely went home right on time.
By night, he had a secret identity: the Night Knight, a crime-fighting champion who punished evil and upheld justice. Back then, he was the nightmare of every criminal and supernatural creature.
Later, once his younger siblings had grown up, Mycroft was finally able to lay down his responsibilities and step behind the scenes.
He began to "let himself go," living a quiet, comfortable life filled with good food and research at home. He avoided all unnecessary socializing.
As a result, he put on weight, became slow on his feet, and grew lazier by the day.
"Mycroft, did a cat scratch your face?"
"A wild cat. A red-haired wild cat."
"I didn't know cats came in red. Your lie is incredibly poor, brother."
"There are plenty of things you don't know!"
"You should exercise, brother. Otherwise, you won't even be able to catch a beautiful, cunning red-haired cat."
"Shut up, Sherlock."
