In her previous life, Pei Mu went from an overlooked prince with a limp to a Duke of State renowned for his military victories, all thanks to one Jiang Yunong.
She was the orphaned daughter of a war god, granted the title of princess. She loved him with all her heart and even resorted to unscrupulous means to marry him. But from beginning to end, Pei Mu loved only his childhood sweetheart.
Yet he never imagined that on the day his rebellion was crushed, his childhood sweetheart would flee with his money, while Jiang Yunong, the wife he had always despised, stayed by his side.

He was about to risk everything to save her when he saw Jiang Yunong, who should have been raising her sword to kill herself, rise with a smile and take the new emperor's hand.

From the heroine's perspective
On the day I came of age, I saw someone who called herself "Player 117" enter my body. All I could do was watch her control my life.
I watched her fawn over the selfish, scheming Pei Mu, whom everyone despised. She would beat and scold the people around me at the drop of a hat, drive the Empress Dowager, who loved me most, to vomit blood, and even kill my body with her own hands.
When I woke again, I was back in my own body, just before "I" took my own life.
The new emperor asked if I was willing to go with him.
I felt Pei Mu's burning gaze on my back and curled my lips. I didn't even glance at him.
Winter snow filled the air, and rows of beaded curtains stretched before my eyes. Ignoring the man behind me, whose eyes were nearly popping out of his head, I walked straight to the new emperor without hesitation and placed my hand in his.
I raised a hand to tuck my disheveled hair behind my ear and gave him a perfectly measured smile.
"To receive Your Majesty's kindness is this concubine's good fortune."
