Dreams Come True | The Years in Beijing | The Brave Ones' Game | I Want Both a Future and You

A resilient, perceptive actress and her guiding lover

The year Shu Nian debuted, the fortune-teller hired by her company said her Five Elements lacked water, so they took it upon themselves to change her name to Shu Ran.

Water and fire clash. Before she left, the fortune-teller who had changed her name warned Shu Ran never to get involved with anyone whose name contained fire. Shu Ran obediently agreed to his face, but secretly defied the taboo.

After she fell in love with Zhe Yan, her career took a downturn unlike anything she'd ever experienced, just as the fortune-teller had predicted.

December, with snow falling heavily.

Shu Ran had just landed a small role and came home full of joy. But all she got was a cold remark: "Water and fire clash. You deserve a better future."

She kissed him like a woman possessed, her eyes red as she demanded, "Do you know what I hate most in this life? Being abandoned."

A cold winter night in 2018.

With a Republican-era drama, Shu Ran broke through the competition and won the Best Actress award.

After the ceremony, the media swarmed her, asking about her marital status.

Shu Ran smiled. The diamond ring on her left ring finger had yet to be made public, when someone slowly approached from ahead.

In front of countless cameras, the two walked away hand in hand.

That night, Weibo crashed, and two topics dominated the trending searches:
