And so, borne by stardust that appeared suddenly in the depths of the universe, came the famous twins, riding across the Cangfeng Highlands and laughing with abandon;
a frail, dying lady embracing the children waiting by her bedside, entrusting them with the care of the baby in her arms;
a young bird with emerald and gold plumage, mingling with a flock of reed birds and chirping happily as it flapped its wings to follow the immortal's call home...
The pages turned. A pale, delicate hand took out the illustrations and examined them closely:
The twins, so alike in appearance, turned their backs on their respective destinies and became enemies. One settled in the north of the land, while the other died in the south;
the child dressed in a butterfly-patterned kimono vanished, leaving a brightly colored yet slightly worn temari ball bobbing alone in a pond;
a dragon roared in madness, its long tail sweeping across a thousand mountains and bringing them down, before finally taking its own life by the blue waters...
"I am merely a fruit born by chance from fate. When the time comes, I will fall into the deep sea beneath the tree.
Please do not grieve or weep for me. If the time I exist can ease even a few of your painful bruises, then I have no fear of being swallowed by the gentle waves.
I love you so deeply, my brother/sister."
